What do I need to do to become a PADI Open Water Diver?

The PADI Open Water Diver course is the world’s most popular scuba diving certification which allows qualified divers to dive anywhere in the world to 18 metres. Millions of people have learned to scuba dive and gone on to discover the wonders of the aquatic world through this course. To enroll in the PADI Open Water Diver course  you must be at least 10 years old and have adequate swimming skills. No prior experience with scuba diving is required.

So how do you get started? There are 2 simple steps to success. The first step is PART A, sometimes called the Open Water Referral, where you learn the basic skills of scuba diving in our heated pool in London with one of our Instructors. You will also have some online theory to complete with a code that we send you after booking. This gets you halfway to becoming a PADI diver. Once you complete PART A you move on to the second step, PART B, sometimes called the Open Water Completion. These are the qualifying dives done at a local lake near Heathrow where you will repeat the skills learned from the pool again under the guidance of our instructors. When you complete both Part A & B you will receive your PADI Open Water Diver license and begin your own underwater adventures around the world. It’s that easy!

To book your PART A or PART B training please check the availability in our booking schedule. Alternatively you can contact us by email at [email protected] to book in your date.

There is also the option of completing your open water dives while on one of our group holidays. Check out our group diving trips to Egypt and beyond. We travel to many locations around the world which are well suited for passing the PADI Open Water course. Plus you will find it better visually than completing the course in London. We would recommend completing the PADI Open Water referral and then joining us in Egypt or beyond to complete your Open Water dives. You can check out our current trips now. If you would like to discuss or obtain more information on your introduction to scuba diving why not come down to the monthly social drinks at a pub in London Bridge. We will give you all the information you need so you can be confident on what is best for you. You can also meet the rest of the group.

Part A of the Course includes:

  • Online web based theory (PC or Tablet versions Available) – You also have the opportunity of starting your theory before you join us at the dive centre for the diving aspects of the course.
  • Small class sizes with experienced instructors
  • Full equipment hire
  • Final certification fee
  • Free log book worth £15.00 if dive in Gunnersbury, Chiswick, London.

Part B of the course – not included
